Fans now claim that this song is purely dedicated to IU’s late friends. On 18th December,2017 IU lost one of her closest friend JONGHYUN, the former member of kpop group SHINEE . Last year on 14th October,2019 she lost her another close friend SULLI, the former member of kpop group f(x) and then on the same year on 24th November she lost her friend GOO HARA, former member of kpop group KARA.

#inBeautifulMemories #RIP

Jonghyun , Sulli and Hara were suffering from depression and after struggling to live they finally decided to give up and that is exactly why IU questions them in her song if they are finally happy now after being freed from all the depressions. The verse ‘ Everything comes as pleases and leaves without a goodbye ‘ also refers to the sudden parting between them. In the chorus she mentions that she will meet her friends in the beautiful memories they built together .

‘EIGHT’ is an emotional track and brought all the fans together to remember the great kpop idols who left us after building beautiful memories for not only their friends and families but also for their fans.
